Dear Principal

We are emailing you regarding two matters in relation to the 2025 SEAG Entrance Assessment.

  1. Familiarisation Sessions organised by Assessment Centres (the SEAG post-primary schools)

By now, every parent / guardian who registered their child to sit the 2025 SEAG Entrance Assessment should have received a communication from their child’s Assessment Centre. This should include details of a Familiarisation Session which the Centre has organised for pupils and parents.

If you have any parents / guardians who registered their child but have not yet heard from the Assessment Centre please advise them to contact the Centre as soon as possible.

  1. Provision for parents / guardians who missed the SEAG Registration Deadline but who had intended for their child to sit the Entrance Assessment.

SEAG is aware that a very small number of parents, who wish their children to have the opportunity to sit the 2025 SEAG Entrance Assessment, have told us that, due to exceptional circumstances, they missed the Registration Period and the Late Registration Window, which closed on 25th September 2025.

You probably know that the Special Provisions pathway, within the post primary transfer application process, includes provision for some children who did not sit the SEAG Entrance Assessment.

Following representations made by the parents and others advocating for the children involved, SEAG has been working with GL Assessment and others to see if there is any way at all in which it might still be possible for these children to be registered to sit the 2025 SEAG Entrance Assessment. It is incredibly difficult. We know from 2023 and 2024 that the deadlines are needed to ensure the Entrance Assessment is functional and that it is operationally feasible to provide Access Arrangements in time for the Entrance Assessment.

The SEAG Board has agreed, on this occasion, to open an Emergency Registration Window for pupils who will be transferring to post-primary education in September 2026 and who have not already been registered to sit the 2025 SEAG Entrance Assessment. Parents should be aware that, given the timeframe, it may not be possible to process some Access Arrangement requests.

The SEAG 2025 Emergency Registration Window will run from 08:00am Thursday 16th October 2025 until 11:59pm Friday 17th October 2025. The Registration Portal will then close.  Having provided a “Late Registration Window” and an “Emergency Registration Window” in addition to a 4-month Registration Period, SEAG is not in a position to provide any further extensions. Please note that this Emergency Registration Window is for the year 2025 only and does not provide any precedent for future years.

The “Guidance for Parents” Section on the SEAG website (www.seagni.co.uk) includes Frequently Asked Questions with details about how to Register a pupil to sit the Entrance Assessment. Parents can also email admin@seagni.co.uk for assistance.

If you feel that any of your parents / guardians might want to use the Emergency Registration Window, please let them know as soon as possible.
