Objectives
Make your way to the Blue village, where you will see the beginnings of a Viking settlement. You and your peer/s will develop this settlement by designing a variety of buildings that would have been typical in Viking times.
Plan
- With your peer/s think about and discuss the design of your new Viking building. What was this building used for in Viking times? How will your design show this? Is its location important?
- What will the design look like from different viewpoints? Use graph paper to draw your designs.
- Working in groups make your designs fit for The following considerations will help:
- What were the dimensions of various Viking buildings? Length, breadth and height are all important considerations for the whole Viking village.
- Consider how these can be designed and built using scale on graph paper and in Minecraft.
- Do any of the buildings require levels to be built above or below ground?
- What building techniques can be recreated in Minecraft?
- Consider the layout of rooms in various Viking builds,
- What materials did Vikings use? Consider what materials are available in Minecraft to recreate this.

Our pupils can, and they can make it look easy and have fun whilst doing it! P6/7 had a busy morning continuing on with their Viking Topic, looking at Viking settlements, planning their own and constructing buildings collaboratively. Well done everyone.
