This is information sent by the Derry Catechetical Centre, for P7 children and parents.

Just to remind you of upcoming events:

Disciples of Jesus, Filled With Joy Online Confirmation Programme 8th -11th January, 10am – 12 Noon.

Following on from the excellent response to our online Confirmation Preparation Sessions and at the request of schools, we will be offering another preparation programme, to support parents, schools and parishes as they prepare the children in this very important stage of their faith journey. Bishop McKeown will be joining us for the programme throughout the week. The work booklet is available at Online Confirmation Programme Disciples of Jesus - Filled With Joy | Catechetical Centre and is also attached with a promotional poster-feel free to share.

Preparation Programme

Linking with Filled With Joy, pupil workbook and Disciples of Jesus, parent booklet ( both available from the Diocesan Catechetical Centre) the programme will consist of,

  • Four sessions, 10am -12 am on the St Eugene’s Cathedral Hall Webcam. St Eugene's Cathedral, Derry Diocese (steugenescathedral.com) Each day the sessions will include catechesis on different aspects of the Sacrament of Confirmation, prayer, creative activities and music.
  • Attached is the support pack for the four sessions. Please pass this on to the Year 7 and 6th Class Teachers and let parents/sponsors know they are welcome to join online too.

Catholic Schools Week 2024 21st – 27th January 2024   Theme - Catholic Schools : Communities of Service

National Resources Pack  is now available at Catholic Schools Week 2024 – Communities of Service | Catholic Education Partnership

Annual Diocesan Mass to Launch Catholic Schools Week in the Diocese of Derry is on the 16th January 10am St Eugene’s Cathedral.  Please return the attached reply slip to me at tferry@derrydiocese.org by Friday 12th January 2024.

As we are focusing on how we actively live out our faith in our school communities, one of the key Gospel Texts will be The Washing of the Feet at the Last Supper. We invite you to create a representation of the Washing of the Feet ( John 13) as lived in your school community - thinking around the themes of Catholic Schools' Week. Would you bring it to the Mass on the 18th and also take a photo of it beforehand and email it to me so I can create a video of it for social media.

Thanks again for all your support. Just a reminder that there is Group of Retired Principals praying for your school communities every day.

God bless,

Thérèse
