There is a great sense of joy in the school community today as we celebrated Matthew McBride for the fourth anniversary blitz at Glenelly grounds. We had our regular guests from St. Michael's, St. Patrick's and Our Lady of Lourdes as we kitted out together with St. Brigid's. Children from P4-7 took part in two sessions; the early session for P4-5 and the afternoon for P6-7. In the morning session the P4-5 met all three opponents and finished the round robin with two wins and a one-point defeat. This led them to the final of the cup and a match against Gortin. Often a bridesmaid, we emerged victorious in the final.
In the afternoon it was a similar story in the round robin stage, with two victories and one defeat. The final saw us pitted against Greencastle and a very fine match ensued. We ran off winners by the slimmest of margins. It was a fitting end to the day to see Matthew's sister and cousin hold the trophy, presented by Matthew's parents. A special word of thanks to the wider McBride family and the community of Gleann Éallaigh Naomh Seosamh CLG for all their organisation and hosting.
