Take on the Teacher

28th Sep 2018

Today the sun shone around St. Peter's and that was great, as today saw the return of the 'Take on the Teacher' challenge. Last year the teachers were victorious by a fine margin and that really provided the motivation the pupils required for this year. All classes in the school were involved and everyone participated with great attitude, energy and most importantly, fair play. (Even Mr Rouse

First up were the P1-3 children. They had a high-paced game of cups and saucers against the teachers. Simply out-numbered the pupils won easily, some 30 saucers to the teachers 6 cups. This event was something of a walkover and gave the students a well-deserved 1-0 lead.

Next up came the P4 challengers. They took on the teachers at a game of penalty kicks to knock over the cones. The first team to 8 would be victors and it looked to be going the way of the teachers, who quickly got up to a 6-4 lead. That was to be their sticking point however as the P4's got to 8 before them. More shouting and screaming as they went into a 2-0 lead.

P5 came out confident. They strolled across the playground to take up their starting positions. The game was familiar, dodgeball, they outnumbered the teachers by 10-3. This was the only time they were to be ahead as they were knocked out one by one. The teachers managed a surprise win and that was 2-1 in the series.

Basketball hoops was the P6 challenge and they stepped it up In a minute they managed 3 hoops. An easy target was what they teachers remarked... How wrong were they. Miss Caldwell scored their solitary hoop and this extended the pupils unassailable lead to 3-1 with just one event left.

Now playing for pride alone the teachers took to the skipping like true champions. They fought valiantly and won, even after some tremendous efforts from all the P7 pupils. The boys set some new Personal Records and the girls shone. It wasn't enough though and the final score was set at 3 to the pupils, 2 to the teachers.

Beaten and bruised, confidence dented, but there will be more next year!

Well done boys and girls!
