Today we had a visit from local author, Declan Carville. Working in conjunction with the Amma Centre, he came to talk about moving on and transition from one place to another. He used his book, Nelly Fandango, to show the change of one character through time and the range of emotions that were felt by this one character.
Specifically linked with working with Primary 7 children, we were so lucky that Declan agreed to work with the whole KS2 class. He spoke about his journey as an author, his inspiration to write, develop characters and his links with illustrators. The climax of the session was where we developed our own character and used an online programme to make digital representations of our illustrations. It was so much fun.
